Overview

The Calamity Chapter is a Last Of Us inspired story line for the PS5, following a scientist called Dr Arnold Tavik, who has been tasked to enter nearby cities and collect blood samples from civilians who are infected, but haven’t fully turned.

The player is tasked to stealth through this environment, avoiding the infected, collecting blood samples and making it to the exit point. Using light and windows, the player will be subtly guided through this experience with the objective in mind. Deceased patients, to collect the blood samples from, have been placed in locations around the level that will be hard for the player to miss. This level is both challenging and adventurous as it will contain sections of exploration and intense stealth sequences.

The Level Design for The Calamity Chapter is intended to offer the player a linear exploration experience which allows them to learn more about the infection and its impact on the civilians. Built specifically for stealth gameplay, the player has many opportunities to either avoid the infected or take them by surprise. The sample zones are placed in specific areas to ensure the player does not miss any as they traverse through both floors. Should the player wish to engage the infected, they must first learn their AI pathing in order to plan an opportune moment for the attack.
