Map plans

This is a scaled and drawn plan of the main murder scene in the game. I thought, because my map is too big, that trying to scale every aspect of it would be un productive as there are patches in the map were it's nothing more but nature. And scales/ideas are set to change. This is how the murder zone should be laid out. I want to have multiple paths that lead to the body and murder weapon. I also would like to add trees scattered around the area. I think that dead trees and tree stumps would suit the atmosphere best because I intend to show off how old the area is and how little attention it has received by the locals.
The Murder Scene

This is a scaled drawing of the hut the player can enter. I wanted to make the game somewhat realistic and mysterious by adding rock climbing equipment inside scattered around. Intend to make it look like a mining shaft of some kind by adding storage units, maps, ladders and a table with different objects on that are related to mining or construction. In this room, the player will be able to find a note. I was doing some further thinking on adding a dead body from 1 or the 3 characters of the story. As we know, all the characters meet their demise. 2 characters in the 1st and 2nd half of the story go "missing". To show the aftermath of their missing adventure, It would be a great idea to add the body in this cave to show some form of realism to the story and the player can see the aftermath of these characters.

v2 layout of the map
After looking at my previous pixel drawings, I tried to apply all my different ideas into one final sketch. Although I expect things to change in production, this is the version of the map I want to go with. It has a lot of different new game mechanics that I can explore. I'll be able to take a look at making waterfalls, practicing with the landscape creation tools and coding new game mechanics I have never adapted to before. I want to have the cliff area as a focal point for my map as it will be the final section the player should go to. I wanted to separate this from the actual map by putting in a waterfall or river of some kind which shows that I can adapt to new ideas.
